Internship Opportunity: Website Manager

The intern will update the information on the website as needed, including details about upcoming special events, economic development projects, new UBA members, and general information about Urbana.

Experience with website design is helpful but not required.  Attention to detail is a must.  Schedule is flexible; approximately 10-15 hours a week.

Additional Internship Responsibilities

Membership

  • Recruit new members via relationship selling
  • Sell benefits of Urbana Business Association
  • Survey existing members
  • Invoice existing members
  • Service existing members
  • Fulfill responsibilities to existing members, such as:
    • Quarterly breakfasts
    • Obtain sponsors
    • Send out invitations
    • Monthly after-hours
    • Obtain sponsors
    • Send out invitations
  • Create value-added benefits to membership program
  • Create and distribute monthly 1 page newsletter to all members creating them apprised of our activities
  • Develop new member visiting team
  • With assistance from ED train new member visiting team to call on new members
  • Create monthly luncheon forum for existing members with invitations to potential members

Marketing, Advertising, and Promotions

  • Work with marketing committees
  • Assist event sub-committees with marketing of events, gaining cost savings on print/radio/television contracts where appropriate and stay within budget
  • Oversee web-site updates as appropriate for current UBA sponsored events
  • Assist in format creation of membership newsletter
  • Solicit building owners of empty spaces, to utilize empty store fronts to display UBA event displays
  • Write press releases / letters to the editor, when recognition has been gained by the city, schools, parks, person of local residency, etc. Anything that will promote Urbana needs to be submitted to radio/print/television resources for story ideas. Develop relationships with the media. They are your friends!
